Audience Measurment Techniques

Over the years, television broadcasting companies have used many techniques to measure the amount of views they are getting at one particular time or for one particular show. Some of these techniques include probability sampling, straw polls, surveys, and ratings. After comparing all of these measurement techniques with one another it is clear that the Neilson Rating system is the most accurate form of media monitoring and rating. The Nielson Rating System was originally created to monitor how many people were listening to certain radio stations. Now it is used primarily to track television ratings. I feel that this is the most effective measurement technique because it takes many different variables into consideration such as income, education, religion, occupation, and location. Taking all of these variables into consideration allows for a more accurate and wholesome number.
