Media Literacy

Upon researching what media literacy is, i came across this definition that i liked on google. "The process of understanding and using the mass media in an assertive and non-passive way" I think that that would be the most basic and simple explanation of media literacy. Being able to understand all the different venus of media that are out there today and understanding and really comprehending what they have to offer and what information they contain. I think most everyone today would consider themselves media literate since they can get media from their cell phones, the radio, news paper, magazines, tv, etc. With all the cell phones and ipods and ipads and every other portable internet accessing device, everyone is constantly connected with media and everything that is going on. When its everywhere around you, understanding it comes pretty easily and quickly. Media literacy is simply understanding all the modern technology today and their portals to the media.
