What is Technology Dependence?

According to "The Media of Mass Communication" book, Technology Dependence is how people rely on technology. More often than not, individuals use the internet to communicate rather than interpersonal communication. With mass communication it is a necessity to have technology available to communicate with mass audiences. Different technologies include, printing which is the printing press such as magazines and newspapers. Chemical technology which is photos and visual media that we see. Electronic technology was the very first of the media technology as the "The Media of Mass Communication" has stated. Eventually, digital technology became the "traditional" mass media people went to.
The Technology Dependence will always be with us because that is what our world is based off of today. With several changes in our technology, it is only a matter of time before we learn how to work with new machines and become dependent on them.
